What is Map the System?
Map the System is a global competition run by the Skoll Centre for Social Entrepreneurship in partnership with Oxford University and other post-secondary institutions around the world. In this competition, participants use systems thinking as a guiding approach to explore some of the most complex issues facing the world today.

The next match & learn in-person event is Tuesday, January 17, which will be an opportunity to meet potential teammates and explore topics in advance of the Canada-wide registration deadline of January 31, 2023.
Key Dates and Deadlines
Please note, dates may be subject to change:
- Participant registration - January 31, 2023
- Submission deadline - early April 2023
- Local finals - mid-April 2023
- Online semi-finals (1 team per institution) - May 2023
- Global final submission - mid-June 2023
- Global final - early July 2023

- Form your team and pick a topic!
Step 2: Register for Map the System
- Registration is now open via Map the System Canada. Register here.
Step 3: Map Your System
- Review the resources available to you
- Begin your research

- Map your system!
Step 4: Compete for Cash Prizes
- Submit your written submission materials in April 2023.
- If chosen, compete at the University of Waterloo Campus Final in April 2023 for a chance to win up to $2,000!
- If chosen, compete at the Canadian Final!
- If chosen, compete at the Global Final in Oxford, UK!

Map the System Campus Lead
Elham Mohammadi is a third-year Ph.D. student in the department of environmental studies. She received her first Master's degree in Business Administration (MBA) in Iran and her second Master's degree in Environmental Studies in Canada.
