During the week of October 15-19, the University of Waterloo celebrated Zero Waste Week, with support from the Sustainability Office and Plant Operations to bring challenges and activities to employees and students across campus.
The Sustainability Action Fund has granted funding for eight new projects on campus. These fall 2018 projects include workshops, a student-led conference, a documentary screening, and increased promotion and tools for waste reduction.
The Sustainability Action Fund has granted funding for three new projects on campus in spring 2018. The funds will support new Signage in the Arts / Environment garden, library waste receptacles, and the creation of a sustainability guide.
During the Week of October 16th – October 20th, the University of Waterloo partnered with the Sustainability Office and participated in its first ever Zero Waste Week as part of the national Waste Reduction Week campaign.

Each year, Waterloo publishes a summary of the actions that students, staff and faculty have taken across campus to reduce our environmental impact. From new research projects to student events to ongoing changes to policy and practice, it is inspiring to see the dedication and involvement of so many people in our University community.
The Sustainability Action Fund has granted funding for its first four projects. These fall 2017 projects will help improve waste diversion on campus through e-waste bins and new standardized waste receptacles. It will also help fund a new bike cage and water bottle refill station.

It was a cold and rainy day that saw the arrival of Campus Compost's second "compost cow", a 55 cubic foot tumbler that gobbles up food waste from the University of Waterloo. The weather, however, did not dampen any spirits for the volunteers who operate the system.
