The Sustainability Action Fund has granted funding for seven new campus sustainability projects in fall 2025, with a mix of student, staff, and faculty-led projects. From workshops and app-based waste sorting to bird-friendly window decals and invasive species management, innovative ideas are driving campus sustainability forward at Waterloo.

The University of Waterloo is excited to announce the return of the e-bike and e-scooter share program with Neuron Mobility, beginning the week of April 1, 2025. This program is part of a region-wide initiative, supporting sustainable transportation options between the campus and broader community.

As GRT starts to plan for 2025-2030, they are asking for feedback from the Waterloo Region.

On Thursday, June 20, the Sustainability Office held the 2024 Bike Fair in the Peter Russell Rock Garden.

To engage the UWaterloo community directly in the effort of tracking and reducing emissions, Finance and the Sustainability Office have collaborated to add a new voluntary field in Concur titled “carbon emissions” that asks Claimants who have booked and purchased their airfare out of pocket to voluntarily calculate and include the greenhouse gas emissions associated with their UW travel.

Waterloo is launching a new incentive for departments to electrify fleet vehicles. Any unit replacing a conventional combustion engine vehicle can receive a $10,000 internal incentive to convert to an electric vehicle (EV).

As we return to campus, riding your bike just got a little better. Waterloo’s new bike cage has opened and students, staff, and faculty may now purchase spaces.
