Sepehr Khazraei  will defend his PhD thesis on the  high areal-capacity and durable aqueous rechargeable Zinc Li-ion battery  This is a closed Defense.

Abstract

Aqueous rechargeable zinc Li-ion batteries (ARZLBs) have been proposed as a low-cost, safe, and eco-friendly energy storage candidate to replace expensive and flammable commercial Li-ion batteries. However, their development is hindered by low energy density and inadequate cycle life.

Accordingly, the end-goal of this thesis lies in the contribution to the development of high-performance ARZLBs in terms of:

1) improved energy density by optimizing battery design with high areal-capacity battery cathodes.

2) prolonged cycle life via suppressing zinc dendrite growth and mitigating hydrogen evolution-induced corrosion.
