Susan Tighe, PhD, PEng, FCAE, became a Fellow in the Canadian Society for Civil Engineering (FCSCE) on June 14, 2019 at the Annual Awards Gala for excellence in civil engineering and for services rendered to her profession and to Canada. Susan has been an active member of CSCE for more than 20 years and recently served as the Past President of the Canadian Society for Civil Engineering. She has been a Professional Engineer in the Province of Ontario since 1995 and has been a Professor in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the University of Waterloo since 2000. The Problem Lab invites you to watch the Quantum Valley Investments® Problem Pitch Competition.
Teams have each chosen an important industry problem, and will now pitch their research to a panel of judges for a chance to win up to $30k in grant funding. The 5-minute pitches will demonstrate each competitor’s knowledge of their problem’s history, scope, and impact.

CEGES will be hosting its Spring BBQ on Thursday July 4th in the CPH Courtyard from 11:30 am to 1:30 pm. Come on out to support the CEE undergrad society. There will be burgers $3, ice cream $3, cotton candy $1, popcorn $1 & more! While your there please feel free to check out our design teams and socialize with other students & department faculty!
The tradition continues on July 12, 2019 from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm to celebrate Engineering Day with our incredible community of students, alumni, professors and staff. This year's activities will include a colour throw (wear a white t-shirt!), BBQ featuring the famous 'Boggan Burgers, free treats and refreshments including purple Koolaid as well as soft-serve ice cream and popcorn, a photo booth, The Tool and The Tool Bearers, and so much more!
Since the last fundraiser was so successful, EWB has partnered again with Krispy Kreme to have another fundraiser to raise money for social enterprises in Sub-Saharan Africa to help reduce poverty.

On Monday May 27th, the annual Bison Transport Debate was held at the 54th Annual Canadian Transportation Research Forum (CTRF) Conference in Vancouver, BC. The Bison Transport Debate has been conducted in conjunction with the CTRF Annual Meeting since 1996.
