The Waterloo Institute for Hellenistic Studies hosted Professor Elizabeth Carney, of Clemson University. Sponsored by the Onassis Foundation through its University Seminar Program, Prof. Carney lectured in a graduate course, participated in a senior undergraduate seminar on Hellenistic Portraits and Personalities, gave a presentation to the university community, and provided advice in research. A historian who has published on topics that include Alexander, Arsinoë, and women in military leadership, Dr. Carney is conducting a study into the lives and careers of Hellenistic women in political positions.
