Congratulations to Steven Alexander (PhD graduate) for receiving the 2016 University of Waterloo "Outstanding Achievement in Graduate Studies" honour. Five such honours were awarded this year at the doctoral level.

Carolyn Mann (BES, 2014) published her ERS 411 thesis in the journal Water Resources Management. Her undergraduate research was on risk perceptions of urban flooding in Toronto. Carolyn is currently a graduate student at Dalhousie University.

SERS MES students in the ‘Sustainability Applications’ class capped off a busy term with presentations to their Toronto Region Conservation Authority (TRCA) partners last week.

Congratulations to SERS MES Student Fatima (Noori) Khan who is one of the Top 25 finalists in SSHRC's 2016 Storytellers challenge. Help support Fatima's submission by viewing her entry on "Coastal Changes: A Case-Study of Fisheries in Chilika Lagoon".

SERS Professor Sarah Wolfe had an article published in the The Globe and Mail for World Water Day.

Congratulations to 1st year, Environment, Resources and Sustainability student, Ekaterina Huszka for receiving the Beingessner Award for Excellence in Writing. This award is part of the National Farmers Union Youth's Campaign for New Farmers and is given to the authors of the best 500-1000 word essay on agriculture and food issues in Canada. The theme of this year's essay was "Soil: Our Common Ground".

Ian Rowlands, a Professor in the School of Environment, Resources and Sustainability has been appointed as Interim Associate Vice-President, International for a one-year term beginning February 15, 2016. Please see the daily bulletin for further information. Congratulations Ian!
