ERS Field Courses During Reading Week

A number of ERS students have taken advantage of the Winter term Reading Week to do a field course outside of Waterloo. Learning ‘hands on’ about the environment in different locations, it has been an opportunity for learning, for expanding horizons and for having fun! More information about these courses is available at the following locations:

ERS 375 – Coastal Marine Change in Jamaica (and you can follow course instructor Professor Derek Armitage at @ECGGroup)

ERS 1B student Madeline (Maddi) Leblanc has started an annual grassroots fundraiser to build awareness for brain cancer research. This year’s event – a group paddleboard journey down the Welland Canal – will be held on 23 July 2015. You can read more about Maddi’s story on the University of Waterloo’s Student Success Office website. Well done, Maddi!

ERS 1B student Perry Schumacher was chosen as the Canadian delegate (of 15 young people from around the world) to participate in an international documentary film. The film – Rise of the Eco-Warriors – documents the group’s work saving rainforests and giving hope to endangered orangutans.
