From leading research in Canada’s frozen north to advancing health and education in developing countries to helping homeowners and municipalities across the nation become more resilient in the face of a changing climate, the incredible impact of this year’s Faculty of Environment alumni award recipients reflect and exemplify values foundational to the faculty itself: community impact, caring and research excellence.

The International Sustainable Aviation and Energy Research Society (SARES) has given the 2022 Science Award to Paul Parker, professor at the School of Environment, Enterprise and Development (SEED) and Geography and Environmental Management (GEM) for his outstanding research and invaluable contributions to sustainable aviation globally.

On July 1st, 2022, the Faculty of Environment will say farewell to Jean Andrey, fondly called Dean Jean, our esteemed dean of eight years. The whole community wishes her the best in her retirement as we reflect on all her accomplishments and contributions to the Faculty.

In the Winter 2022 term, the Faculty of Environment offered an e-Learning Graduate-level Course on Decolonizing Methodologies for Sustainability Research. The course was designed and delivered by School of Environment, Resources and Sustainability (SERS) PhD students Lowine Hill and Madu Galappaththi, and former School of Planning PhD student Sarah Ghorpade.
