Celebrating International Day of Women and Girls in Science at IQC
On February 11, the Institute for Quantum Computing (IQC) and its partners worldwide will celebrate the International Day of Women and Girls in Science. Each year we look at IQC’s role in what we at IQC are doing to inspire more girls and women to study and work in STEM and quantum information. And although the needle is moving, we still have a lot more work to do.
Seminal quantum error correction paper included in Physical Review A Milestones List
A research paper published in 2012 by Matteo Mariantoni, faculty member at the Institute for Quantum Computing and in the University of Waterloo Department of Physics and Astronomy, appeared on the Physical Review A 50th Anniversary Milestones list.
Taking qubits to the next level
Researchers have implemented a gate used in important quantum algorithms in one step on a three-level quantum system—a qutrit—for the first time.

Statement in support of protecting Canadian science and researchers
The Institute for Quantum Computing (IQC) supports the efforts of the Government of Canada to secure and protect Canadian science and researchers. IQC takes the protection of intellectual property very seriously and commits to cooperate with various agencies and organizations in support of National Security priorities.
IQC also commits to, and will continue to, educate staff and researchers about the opportunities, pitfalls, and boundaries of protecting Canadian science and intellectual property for the benefit of IQC, the University of Waterloo, and indeed, future generations.
