A Reflection on 30+ Years of Research and What the Future May Hold

Bill McIlroy.

Speaker: Bill McIlroy

Next up in the Kinesiology and Health Sciences (KHS) seminar series, Dr. Bill McIlroy will be giving a talk entitled: Neural Control of Human Mobility: A Reflection on 30+ Years of Research and What the Future May Hold for Research and Teaching.

Dr. McIlroy, a distinguished researcher and educator, has made significant contributions to the field of neuroscience and mobility. His research focuses on understanding how the central nervous system controls movement, recovery from neurological injury, and the development of new assessment tools through wearable sensors.

The talk will span from his lab's fundamental work aimed at uncovering the intricate neural systems involved with mobility control to translational efforts developing new therapeutic and clinical assessment approaches. While the presentation will emphasize the science and the knowledge gained, Dr. McIlroy will also reflect on the opportunities and challenges encountered along this journey and what may lie ahead for both research and teaching.

The Kinesiology and Health Sciences Department Seminar Series continues to be popular within and beyond KHS, Dr. McIlroy's talk is open to the larger UWaterloo community. We encourage undergraduate students, alumni and those outside of KHS in other departments to all share in this keystone event!

This seminar will be held in EXP 1689 on March 13 at 2:30 p.m. and is open to all members of the University of Waterloo community. No registration is required.
