Dr. Stacey Acker receives 2024 Faculty of Health Teaching Award

Dr. Stacey Acker, an associate professor in the Department of Kinesiology and Health Sciences, is the 2024 Faculty of Health Teaching Award recipient. The award is granted annually to an outstanding Health instructor. 

According to the award citation, Acker distinguishes herself as a talented teacher who conveys the most complicated concepts in engaging and accessible ways. She also creates an inclusive space where all students feel motivated to learn. 

In their nomination letters, students describe her as a professor who is genuinely dedicated to ensuring they understand the material, who goes above and beyond in supporting them and who is “exceptionally kind and thoughtful.”

Acker’s students emphasize that her commitment to creating a supportive learning environment is a critical feature of her classroom, which not only supports their learning but, most importantly, helps them believe in themselves.
