TechStreet: a new standard (aggregator)

The Library has purchased a new subscription to the standards aggregator, TechStreet. Replacing our CSA subscription service, TechStreet provides full CSA and partial ISO standard coverage, among others. Standards and codes are fundamental building blocks to innovation and advances in technology, and are critical resources for students and even staff across campus.

Supporting entrepreneurship

Through proactive stewardship of collections, the Library is dedicating more resources to key strategic areas of the University of Waterloo, including entrepreneurship. The Library supports this growing culture of entrepreneurship with a curated selection of databases and a dedicated Entrepreneurship Librarian.

Collection review developments

In 2014, the Library began a comprehensive review to ensure the continued relevance of the Library’s collections within a sustainable budget model.  The first phase involved assessing subscriptions to online research databases - renewing subscriptions to content vital to the community and canceling resources that no longer met the research and teaching needs of the university.

Following the success of The New Feminists, Special Collections & Archives is excited to announce the unveiling of our second Fine Arts exhibit: The Wild And The Tamed. Professor Tara Cooper writes that the "exhibition explores humanity's relationship with nature — the wild and the tamed."

The Library celebrates University of Waterloo's 60th

On July 1, 1957 the Waterloo College Associate Faculties was founded in two temporary buildings. In 2017, University of Waterloo celebrates 60 years of history, growth and excellence that grew those small beginnings into Canada's most innovative university.

An integral part of that history, the Library has grown and evolved along with the University. The specialized knowledge, resources and services the Library provides to every corner of the University contribute directly to the success of its students, faculty and staff.
