E-waste bin now available at Davis Centre Library

Don't know what to do with those earbuds that have stopped working? or which bin to put your pens and pencils in? University of Waterloo's Sustainability Office has just rolled out some new e-waste bins across campus, expanding on the program run by Central Stores that diverts over 30 tonnes of waste each year!

Alison Hitchens appointed Associate University Librarian - Collections, technology and scholarly communication

Alison Hitchens has been appointed to the newly-redefined senior administrative portfolio of Associate University Librarian, Collections, Technology and Scholarly Communication at the University of Waterloo Library, effective June 25, 2018. In this role, Alison will provide leadership in the areas of collections, access, technology, assessment, bibliometrics, and scholarly communication.

Library helps tackle issues on the Bridge to 2020

President and Vice-Chancellor Feridun Hamdullahpur has announced the release of seven issue papers exploring themes that will form the basis of the University's strategic planning conversations.  

Each issue paper was developed by advisory groups tasked with "developing an understanding of their issue area at Waterloo and conducting an environmental scan to reflect Waterloo's current status in the area, best or leading practices, and opportunities for further development of the issue." Creation of the issue papers was also supported by 14 members of Library staff. The unique skills embodied by our librarians helped by shaping research questions, and providing literature review and synthesis for each theme. The process also drew on the Library's expertise in bibliometrics and user experience.
