This course concentrates on the theoretical and practical issues related to the design of the human-computer interfaces. Aspects of human perception, cognition and various models of task analysis are discussed. Further, the course examines the principles of interface design and the related empirical evidence. 

Course Objectives:

By the end of this course students should be able to: 

  • engage in intelligent discourse about human-computer interaction research
  • design interfaces and interaction techniques for new technologies, such as smart phones and large displays
  • apply a variety of methods to involve the people who use an application in the design process
  • evaluate interaction techniques and human performance when using technology
