A paper by Scholar Sun, a research assistant in the Health AI and Analytics Lab, was featured as a selected article in the May 2026 issue of ISE Magazine. Originally published in IISE Transactions on Healthcare Engineering, the research addresses a complex optimization problem in radiation therapy and develops methods to ensure optimized treatment plans can be realistically delivered in clinical practice.
The work was supervised by Prof. Houra Mahmoudzadeh and co-authored with collaborators from the Waterloo Regional Health Network (WRHN) Cancer Centre. Scholar Sun previously won the Canadian Operational Research Society (CORS) Undergraduate Paper Competition and received an Honorable Mention in the INFORMS Undergraduate Operations Research Prize.
