Recently, 19 students representing the Waterloo chapter of the Institute of Industrial and Systems Engineers (IISE) participated at the 2019 student conference, held at Concordia University in Montreal, Quebec. The students took part in various competitions, including the Theoretical Exam, Technical Paper, and Case Study.
Jessie Yeung, a fourth year student in the Computational Math program at the University of Waterloo won the 1st prize in the Technical Paper competition. Her entry, based on work conducted under the supervision of Management Sciences professor Houra Mahmoudzadeh, was a research paper that applied optimization techniques to improving radiation therapy. Jessie will go on to present her paper at the upcoming IISE Annual Conference in Orlando, Florida.
