MME students outperform the competition at Formula Hybrid
Waterloo’s Formula Hybrid racing team edged out other top university race cars at this year’s Formula Hybrid International Competition taking first place overall in the competition.
Over 27 teams, from as far away as Turkey and India, took part in the competition held at the New Hampshire Motor Speedway at the end of April. Part of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) and Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) Collegiate Design Series, the annual event challenges university students to design an open-wheel, single-seat, electric or hybrid-electric race car.
Of the 38 active team members of Waterloo Hybrid, 31 members are Mechanical and Mechatronics students at various stages in their academic careers.
