A team from Waterloo Engineering was recognized this week at the largest event in North America for the additive manufacturing industry.
Sagar Patel and Martine McGregor won the 2021 Digital Manufacturing Challenge at the RAPID + TCT conference in Chicago for a project that involves the rapid deployment of prosthesis assemblies in emergency medicine.
It was one of three Additive Manufacturing Community Awards handed out to celebrate individuals, teams and companies creating significant impact in the commercialization of additive manufacturing, also known as 3D printing.
Patel is a postdoctoral fellow at the Multi-Scale Additive Manufacturing (MSAM) Lab at Waterloo. McGregor is a PhD student in mechanical and mechatronics engineering.
They are supervised by mechanical and mechatronics engineering professors Stewart McLachlin and Mihaela Vlasea, who is also associate research director of MSAM.
The conference is hosted by the Society of Manufacturing Engineers (SME), a professional association dedicated to advancing manufacturing and developing a skilled workforce.
