Over the past week, our campus community came together to mark some significant milestones in the lives of our alumni and graduating students. More than 7,000 degrees, diplomas and certificates were awarded during 16 convocation ceremonies and 4 celebrations. Never before have we celebrated convocations for three classes – from 2020, 2021 and 2022 – in one week. Perhaps most significant was the opportunity to once again connect in person with our friends and colleagues. The connections and communities that we develop on our campuses and beyond are the foundation of what makes the University of Waterloo so special.
Thank you to the many volunteers, staff and faculty who contributed to the success of convocation. Welcoming thousands of graduands, alumni and guests to our campus is no small feat, and from the conversations I had with our graduands and their families, it was very much appreciated.

The University of Waterloo acknowledges that much of our work takes place on the traditional territory of the Neutral, Anishinaabeg and Haudenosaunee peoples. Our main campus is situated on the Haldimand Tract, the land granted to the Six Nations that includes six miles on each side of the Grand River. Our active work toward reconciliation takes place across our campuses through research, learning, teaching, and community building, and is centralized within our Office of Indigenous Relations.
