Competing in his final U SPORTS Championship, Jörg Ahne (Merseburg, Germany) did not disappoint coming away with his third straight national medal in the long jump, this time the silver. Ahne leapt to a season’s best distance of 7.37m in the final, finishing second to the 2018 Commonwealth Games silver medalist. For his efforts, Ahne came away with a second-team All-Canadian nod. Ahne also ran the fastest split of the weekend (21.6h) in the men’s 4x200m heat, helping the Warriors reach the finals and earn eighth spot overall. Ahne leaves Waterloo as the varsity record holder in the long jump and 150m and has the 12 best jumps in UW history, and 16 of the top 20.
