MME grad student wins Finalists’ Choice award at annual GRADflix competition
Jeswin Joeseph, a PhD candidate, won the Finalists’ Choice Award at the annual GRADflix competition, where students create a 60-second video to showcase their research to a general audience.
Joseph’s research involves developing physics-based digital twin models that predict surface temperatures on hypersonic vehicles during flight. By combining high-fidelity flow data with fundamental physics, the models he creates can estimate heat flows with minimal sensors, helping engineers design safer hypersonic systems. This, in turn, reduces the need for expensive flight testing.
Joseph is part of the Multi-Physics Interaction Lab, led by Dr. Jean-Pierre Hickey.
