On July 14, at the Student Life Centre, Velocity Concept $5K pitch competition welcomed 9 aspiring student teams to each present a 3-minute pitch to judges.

Award-winning teams, from left to right - The President Braids, OrientaMED, Symphonic, Tako
Symphonic, consisting of Mechatronics Engineering students Christopher Samra and Avery Chiu, and Arts student Ryan Trainor is one of the 4 teams that has received the $5,000 award. Their pitch of building a wearable interface that enables people with speech liabilities to speak, using the technique of decoding speech from neuromotor intentions, has provided us with a promising future of helping people with disabilities.
Congratulations to team Symphonic, and all the other award winners! Their stories have been posted in UWaterloo Daily Bulletin.
