MME students win $25,000 prize for green energy system

Thursday, November 25, 2021

Congratulations to Peter Cornelisse and Lucas Godkin, both fourth-year mechanical engineering students, for receiving $25,000 as the winners of the NU National Student Award for Outstanding Social Entrepreneurship.

Cornelisse and Godkin are developing an off-grid, renewable energy generation and storage system, called the Hydro House, as an affordable alternative to fossil fuel generators. Their system is intended for remote communities, cottages and single-family homes, providing sustainable green energy regardless of location.

The prize was announced at the recent Pivot on Purpose Summit.
