It is with great sadness that we have learned that Professor Emeritus John Medley passed away on Wednesday, October 16th, after a long and courageous battle with cancer.
Medley was a dedicated professor and researcher at the University of Waterloo for 35 years, as well as a proud Waterloo alum. He specialized in biomechanics, including his passion for exploring his research areas in spinal implants, shoulder and elbow implants, orthopaedic implant failure, and cell traction forces.
His innovative nature also allowed him to secure patents to help advance the orthopaedic field while being a fierce advocate as a consultant for plaintiffs in orthopaedic cases.
We extend our deepest condolences to John’s family, friends, and colleagues during this difficult time.
