On May 29th, 2018, Waterloo Engineering hosted a delegation of Presidents and Vice Presidents from 21 Chinese Universities and Colleges. The group, led by government officials toured campus to learn more about the Tsinghua University – University of Waterloo Joint Research Centre for Micro-Nano Energy and Environment Technology (JCMEET).
Waterloo JCMEET Executive Director Zhongchao Tan, professor of mechanical and mechatronics engineering hosted the visiting delegation that included representatives of The National Academy of Education Administration an institute founded by the current regime of China, with the aim of training all the senior administrators in the Chinese universities and colleges nation wide.
JCMEET was launched in Beijing by a University of Waterloo delegation, led by Feridun Hamdullahpur, president and vice-chancellor, Pearl Sullivan, dean of engineering, and Zhongchao Tan, mechanical and mechatronics engineering professor along with Xu Chen, chancellor of Tsinghua on March 29, 2018.
The centre’s activities will focus on collaborative research, joint training and student exchange between the two universities.
