The University of Waterloo Chamber Choir sings a varied program including works by Indigenous composer Andrew Balfour, Indian-American composer Reena Esmail and Haitian-American composer Sydney Guillaume. Other composers whose works will be performed include Healey Willan, Rene Clausen, Benjamin Britten and Morton Lauridsen.
This choir is conducted by Prof. Mark Vuorinen, who also conducts the Elora Singers and the Grand Philharmonic Choir.
Please join us for a joint online concert with the University of Waterloo Balinese Gamelan Ensemble and the Grebel Community Gamelan. The video premiere will be released on Thursday, December 9 at 7pm, and will be posted on this website. The Balinese Gamelan Ensemble is directed by Dewa Suparta, a musician, composer, and teacher from Bali, Indonesia. Dewa Suparta is our Artist-in-Residence and has been at Conrad Grebel since 2014.
The End of Term concert for this term is being recorded,
and will be released on Monday, December 13 at 7pm. Please join us for the Premiere. We are pleased to present a wide range of pieces, from an Mendelssohn octet to a Handel Trio, performed by eight different groups.
Please join us for a tribute to the arrangers of big band jazz presented by the University of Waterloo Jazz Ensemble. Directed by Michael Wood, the Jazz Ensemble has been a crowd favourite for many years. Special guest saxophonist and UW alumni Ernie Kalwa will also join the band.
Please join us for the online premiere of the Orchestra@UWaterloo Fall Term concert. The orchestra is directed by Daniel Warren, and this term consists of string players only. Members include undergraduate students, grad students, staff, and alumni.
We are please to announce that our Noon Hour Concert series will continue this Fall. Starting September 22, 2021 and continuing through to November 10, recitals and interviews with professional musicians filmed specifically for our Noon Hour Concert series will premiere on the Grebel Youtube Channel at 12:30PM most Wednesdays. The series is free, and no registration is required.
Songs of Solidarity and Hope
This concert will feature musings from various traditions (incl. works by Barrios, Metheny, Carole King, James Taylor) which contemplate our collective struggles and act as signposts for collaborative transformation.
This concert will feature world-renowned musician and scholar Trichy Sankaran, along with Suba Sankaran and Dylan Bell - well renowned musicians in their own right who have appeared at Grebel before with Autorickshaw.
This concert will feature well-known cellist and director, Ben Bolt-Martin, accompanied by pianist Emily Hamper.
