Recognize this instrument? It is part of a Balinese Percussion Ensemble housed at Conrad Grebel. These ensembles include tuned percussive instruments made of bronze or bamboo, and may feature drums, flutes, strings, and sometimes dancers. Learning to play these instruments involves listening and repeating, there is no sheet music. Both the student gamelan and the Grebel Community Gamelan Warga Santi will be performing. The groups are directed by artist-in-residence I Dewa Made Suparta and general director Maisie Sum.
