Noon Hour Concert: Fire and Rain (online)

Wednesday, September 29, 2021 12:30 pm - 12:30 pm EDT (GMT -04:00)

Kevin Ramessar
Songs of Solidarity and Hope

This concert will feature musings from various traditions (incl. works by Barrios, Metheny, Carole King, James Taylor) which contemplate our collective struggles and act as signposts for collaborative transformation.

Multi-instrumentalist, singer, arranger and composer Kevin Ramessar has been a featured soloist with numerous orchestras, and has enjoyed collaborating with a wide range of artists throughout North America, Europe, and Asia. Conrad Grebel is also privileged to have Kevin Ramessar as our guitar instructor.

Whether singing an intimate ballad, performing an intricate fugue, reharmonizing a beloved standard, or wailing on a powerful rock anthem, Kevin is passionate about connecting with audiences.

Broadway credits include lead guitar in Beautiful: The Carole King Musical and Jesus Christ Superstar, Associate Music Director (keys & guitar) in Gettin' The Band Back Together, and the guitar chair in the Tony Awards Orchestra.

Kevin recently conducted the pre-Broadway tryout of Paradise Square at Berkeley Repertory Theater, and has enjoyed several seasons in the orchestra and onstage at the Stratford Shakespeare Festival (The Who's Tommy, Jesus Christ Superstar, Man of La Mancha, Evita, Bartholomew Fair, Fuente Ovejuna).

A frequent adjudicator at festivals and competitions, Kevin enjoys giving workshops and lessons to students of all musical backgrounds and ages. He teaches at the University of Waterloo and Wilfrid Laurier University, and recently published three volumes of interactive digital curriculum for the guitar program at Musicians Institute in Hollywood, CA.

His classical recordings can be heard on CBC & WNED and have delighted critics with "passionate" and "beautifully contemplative" performances that are "entirely satisfying" (Wholenote Magazine; The KW Record).
