Program notes: Being premiered on Remembrance Day, this is a story of remembrance. It tells of a time in history, of the conflict of war and its impact on those caught in the middle of it, of a courageous woman who finds hope and a way forward through the challenges and obstacles life puts in her path. It is inspired by the life of my grandmother, Esther (Irina).

Renowned local pianist Heidi Wall will perform the following two pieces:

Starting January 27, 2021 and continuing through to March 24, recitals and interviews with professional musicians filmed specifically for our Noon Hour Concert series will premiere on the Grebel Youtube Channel at 12:30PM most Wednesdays. As a member of the Mennonite Song and Worship Committee, Anneli Loepp Thiessen has spent the past four years helping to choose hymns for the new "Voices Together" Hymnal.  Sifting through over 10,000 pieces of music, the committee chose 775 finalists.

Celebrate the release of the new Hymnal, Voices Together, virtually, complete with hymns and a presentation by Sarah Kathleen Johnson. 

This concert is a collaboration between mezzo-soprano Michelle Lafferty and Pianist Kimly Mengyin Wan.  The premiere will be released on February 3 and will continue to be available on the Grebel You-tube Channel.

This concert will feature Robert Schumann's Symphonic Etudes Op. 13. Robert Schumann began writing his Symphonic Etudes in 1834. It consists of a series of studies which are written in the form of variations upon a theme by Baron von Fricken. The lyrical theme is heard at the beginning, after which a very imaginative and virtuosic sequence of variations begins.

Accompanied by renowned pianist Stephanie Mara, flautist Laurel Swinden will perform works to help celebrate International Women's Day which falls on Monday, March 8th. The composers include:

Elizabeth and Michael Lepock will be performing alternating solos from Austrian composer Hugo Wolf's Italienisches Liederbuch.  Anna Ronai, a well known local pianist and our piano instructor will accompany them.
