Alex Wong (Rx2020) is part of the team at the Children's Hospital of Eastern Ontario, CHEO, a pediatric health-care and research centre in Ottawa, who won the 2022 Excellence in Pharmacy Practice Leadership Award in partnership with Canadian Blood Services. The award is presented from the Canadian Society of Hospital Pharmacists (CSHP) and acknowledges projects that serve a greater cause and contribute to pharmacy care.

The annual Regional Clinical Coordinator (RCC) Conference was held in-person, for the first time since the pandemic began, at Waterloo Pharmacy on Oct 20-21.

An integral part of the PharmD program at Waterloo Pharmacy are the patient care rotations. Fourth year students complete their rotations in the last six months of the program and are placed directly in patient care clinical placements in one of the 14 regions across Ontario.

“But seeing women of colour in the pharmacy industry reminded me that I could overcome roadblocks.”

On Friday, September 23, Waterloo Pharmacy welcomed back its students with a BBQ to kick off the start of a new school year. For the first time since covid, more than 300 students, staff and faculty joined together for an outdoor lunch. Members of the school’s community gathered to enjoy food, play games, take pictures, and reconnect with classmates here at the School of Pharmacy in downtown Kitchener.
