The 2023 CPJ Best Paper Award went to  Waterloo Pharmacy researchers Sherilyn Houle, Wasem Alsabbagh and Nancy Waite who found a solution to assist the public and pharmacists in encouraging vaccination uptake in their study, Herpes zoster and human papillomavirus vaccination opportunities identified using electronic prompts at the time of scheduling influenza or COVID-19 vaccines.

On May 15, Waterloo Pharmacy welcomed their newest cohort to the profession of pharmacy at the White Coat Ceremony.

The white coat tradition stems from the medical school’s ceremonies and has become a symbol for many medical profession programs. Our students are inducted into the pharmacy profession by receiving their white coat from practicing pharmacists and swearing a pledge of professionalism.

The Pharmasave Business Competition awards a third-year Waterloo School of Pharmacy student team a $5,000 prize for an innovative business model in the field of pharmacy. Students work in teams to develop a startup that solves a current health care issue aligned with Ontario health care regulations and pitch their ideas to a panel of pharmacists, entrepreneurs and financial advisors.

GRADflix, hosted by University of Waterloo’s Graduate Studies and Postdoctoral Affairs, gives graduate students the opportunity to showcase their research by creating a one-minute video or animation. This year, Waterloo Pharmacy MSc student, Norman Ly, won the 2024 People’s Choice award for his submission: Immune system: How does cancer turn it off?.

The annual Waterloo Pharmacy Graduate Research Day provides a platform for students to showcase innovative research, to receive valuable feedback from their peers and professors and to connect and collaborate.

During the COVID-19 pandemic Laura’s perspective on what role a pharmacist could play shifted and brought her to the University of Waterloo School of Pharmacy Ambulatory Care Residency Program which she completed in 2022.
