The School of Pharmacy hosted the 4th annual Canadian Pharmacy Education and Research Conference (CPERC) June 11-13 at Queen's Landing in Niagara-on-the-Lake.

A research team led by Dr. Nancy Waite from the University of Waterloo School of Pharmacy and Dr. Lisa Dolovich, of the Department of Family Medicine, McMaster University received $5.7 million in funding today to study how to make the use of drugs more effective for patients and health-care professionals.
Waterloo Pharmacy students Bhupender Sayain, Danielle Paes, Jaskiran Otal and Kacie Lunn once again proved that not only are they talented students, they also have a creative side. The team premiered their newest video, at the Commitment to Care & Services Awards gala held in Toronto on November 25, 2013. Last year, the same group of students created a video that won a national student competition and has been viewed close to 22,000 times.
Paul Spagnuolo was one of ten Waterloo researchers recently awarded grants from the Ontario Research Fund - Research Infrastructure program. The funding will provide for equipment and other resources for the researchers' labs.
At its meeting yesterday, the Ontario University Quality Council accepted the positive recommendation of its Appraisal Committee regarding the proposed PhD program in Pharmacy at the University of Waterloo.
The PhD program, referred to by the Quality Council as an "innovative program", will allow expansion of the graduate program and indeed the research being undertaken within the School of Pharmacy.
We are pleased to announce that Rx2013 student Chelsea Barr is one of five pharmacy students from schools across Canada chosen to receive this award from the Association of Faculties of Pharmacy of Canada. The recipients will be engaged in facets of the ‘Pharmacists-in-Training’ initiative which involves development of a national on-line educational program for pharmacy students in health informatics.
