Winter term brought a renewed sense of energy within the Materials and Nanoscience (MNS) community, which was reflected in events and the many ways students connected  throughout the term.

Games Night brought students together for an evening of relaxed fun, where Uno battles, group games, and a bit of friendly competition quickly took over the room.

The Bismuth Lab once again gave students the chance to step outside the classroom to get somehands-on experience. Watching bismuth crystals form into intricate, iridescent structures loses its appeal, and the process continues to draw students back each term. It’s a reminder that science can be both technical and creative, something to be explored, not just studied.

The MNS Society also launched a new line of merchandise that moved beyond the usual expectations of Science apparel. Designed by Sahar Khan, the pieces reflect the interdisciplinary nature of the program, bringing together elements of chemistry, physics, math, and computing into cohesive, intentional designs. They reflect a community that is not only academic, but creative and constantly evolving.

To close out the term, the MNS Society introduced its first-ever Grad Celebration, a new initiative aimed at giving the graduating Class of 2026 a meaningful send-off. The event brought students together to reflect, reconnect, and celebrate the end of an important chapter, blending moments of appreciation and lighthearted activities.

From game nights to labs to new initiatives, one thing remained consistent: a focus on building and strengthening the MNS community. This term wasn’t defined by any single event but by the connections formed along the way.
