Our people

The Centre is a student service unit built to enrich the student experience with a student-focused approach to services. 

The Centre combines the front-line services of Graduate Studies and Postdoctoral Affairs (GSPA), Student Financial Services (SFS), the Registrar’s Office (RO), including Student Awards & Financial Aid (SAFA), and WatCard. Some services of other units, such as Student Success Office (SSO), and Service Canada have also been incorporated.

Responsibilities include:

• Creates the graduate and undergraduate schedule of classes.

• Trains and supports the departmental scheduling representatives.

• Books Registrar-managed rooms for academic events (midterms, extra class time, etc.).

• Is a resource and support member of the Provost's Advisory Committee on Timetabling (PACT).

• Co-ordinates the printing of scheduled and administered final examinations.

• Books the Registrar-managed rooms for graduate final exams.

The Registrar is the senior department head responsible for the management of the Office of the Registrar. These responsibilities include:

• developing and maintaining an organizational structure that reflects the university’s culture and supports its mission
• making the case for adequate levels of budget support
• effectively managing and controlling resources allocated to the Office
• providing effective administrative support systems
• providing effective overall direction and leadership to staff, including enlightened change management
• ensuring fair performance evaluation and providing job-related training and encouragement of staff participation in personal and professional development on an on-going basis
