Renison Alum Ajirioghene Evi (currently CEO of the Ontario Association of Social Workers) was one of two recipients of the King Charles III Coronation Medal last week at the Region of Waterloo.

Ajirioghene was nominated by Volunteer Waterloo Region for her work as an exemplar of community service. About Ajirioghene, they said "She is an expert in change management and a catalyst for dismantling systemic racism, and has worked extensively with Black, Indigenous, and historically marginalized groups to create culturally inclusive, trauma-informed care solutions. As a volunteer she founded and became Executive Director for Kind Minds Family Wellness where she worked hard to develop much needed programs in Waterloo Region."

Ajirioghene's award was presented by her friend and mentor Chris Cowee, a local leader in restorative justice and an Instructor in the Peace and Conflict Studies department at Conrad Grebel University College. Ajirioghene was joined by friends and family, and fellow Renison alum Dorian Whalen.

Congratulations Ajirioghene!
