Gail
Cuthbert
Brandt
received
her
BA
from
the
University
of
Toronto
(1967),
her
MA
from
Carleton
University
(1968)
and
her
PhD
from
York
University
(1977).
She
is
a
specialist
in
Canadian
social
and
women's
history,
and
is
currently
completing
a
monograph
on
the
history
of
women
in
the
Quebec
cotton
industry,
1891-1951.
Her
current
projects
include
a
history
of
Renison
University
College
and
a
new
edition
of
Canadian
Women:
A
History.
She
is
also
researching
the
history
of
Anglican
liberal
arts
colleges
and
universities
in
Canada.
Dr.
Cuthbert
Brandt
has
published
several
articles
in
books
and
periodicals,
including
The
Canadian
Historical
Review,
Labour/Le
Travail,
Social
History/Histoire
Sociale,
and
Canadian
Woman
Studies/cahiers
de
la
femme.
She
is
co-author
of
Canadian
Women:
A
History
and
of
Feminist
Politics
on
the
Farm:
Rural
Catholic
Women
in
Southern
Quebec
and
Southwestern
France,
and
co-editor
of
Canadian
Women:
A
Reader.

Dr. Cuthbert Brandt is a former principal of Renison University College, the former Associate Vice-President, International at the University of Waterloo, and is currently chair of the Advisory Board of the Confucius Institute, housed at Renison University College.
