The University of Waterloo is committed to the safety of its students, faculty and staff as they travel to undertake research.

Guidelines and mandatory approval processes are in place to assess and mitigate risks associated with Waterloo-approved initiatives involving travel. Safety guidelines and management forms for field work and travel, whether in Canada or internationally, are available through the Safety Office.
Pre-departure briefings for students
Pre-Departure Briefing is mandatory for any student confirmed to participate in an international exchange, work placement, internship, or research or other study abroad program affiliated with the university.
