Kickoff to the MEB Capstone Residency Period

Thursday, June 20, 2019

Master of Environment and Business students are here, and they're here to complete Capstone degree requirements!

Friday, June 21st marks the official start of the Master of Environment and Business Capstone Residency weekend. An exciting weekend where students of the online MEB program come together, some meeting for the very first time. On Friday, June 21st the cohort will participate in tours of local companies that are actively engaged in sustainability initiatives led by MEB instructor and academic program director, Doctor Dan Murray. Tours include a walk through Canada's first Carbon-Free building, Evolv1. At Evolv1 students will be guided by Professor Paul Parker to learn about how LEED Platinum status was achieved and how the building generates more energy than it consumes through an innovative geothermal well system and over 2,000 solar panels. Students will also have the opportunity to talk with fellow entrepreneurs and businesses such as The Accelerator Centre. Next up, a quick stop for lunch at The Bauer Kitchen. To wrap up the day, students will learn about environmental stewardship and local green initiatives at The Waterloo Regional Landfil. On Saturday, students who are in the final stages of their MEB degree, completing the Capstone requirement, will take knowledge and research based skills acquired from the course and present their final research project. Here, non-graduating MEB students have the opportunity to gain a milestone by attending the presentations and taking part of the daily reflection.

Stay tuned for tour photos and a class photo of the 2019 Master of Environment and Business Graduating class.

We welcome the Master of Environment and Business students and are looking forward to the kicking off the residency weekend!
