Hi UWaterloo Community,

My name is Tanvi and I joined the Fellowship Program at the School of Accounting and Finance (SAF) in the fall of 2020, and my experience has been nothing but amazing! With meeting my peers in the Fellowship Program, to getting to meet industry professionals who’ve achieved great heights in their profession, it is clear that I have been given an opportunity to improve and grow in many ways! The Fellowship Program did keep me quite busy, however, I enjoyed each stage of it. I think along the way, the enthusiasm of the Fellowship staff and other Fellowship students really made the experience worth it for me.

Moreover, I had the absolute pleasure to be given an upper-year mentor, Mansi, and of course had the opportunity to interact with my exceptional Honouree, Colin, through the Fellowship Café. Mansi is in her 4A term in AFM and I had a great conversation with her with respect to future courses, co-op, and she even shared some great tips for school! As for Colin, he seemed very calm and had a smile on his face throughout the various conversations we had on our virtual table. He has around 30 years of industry experience and definitely gave all fellowship students some great advice.

My experience this term included loads of SAF Ambassador (SOAP) activities such as promoting the SAF to prospective students, and shadowing a PSLC (Peer Support Learning Champion) to learn important characteristics of becoming a good public speaker. Even better, I participated in 1-on-1 coaching sessions organized by SAF for first-year students and helped them cope and get adjusted in this new university environment. I didn’t know how the 30 minutes flew by - I guess that’s a sign of some amazing conversations, right? That was definitely one of my favorite moments from this term as a fellow!
