Whether you've already received an early offer of admission or are eagerly awaiting an admission decision, you'll be in for an evening filled with celebration and insight. This is a night dedicated to acknowledging your unique journey and helping you envision the exciting path that lies ahead.

Speakers

Blake Phillips

Blake Phillips (he/him)
Director, School of Accounting and Finance, University of Waterloo

Blake Phillips is the Director of the School of Accounting and Finance and Co-Director of Science and Business Programs at the University of Waterloo. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of British Columbia, Masters degrees in Forestry and Business Administration from the University of Alberta and a Ph.D. in Finance also from the University of Alberta.  Prior to commencing his doctoral studies, Blake was a Registered Professional Forester and Registered Professional Biologist in British Columbia where he was a managing partner with an ecosystem restoration consulting firm.

Jennifer Lynes

Dr. Jennifer Lynes (she/her)
Co-director, Sustainability and Financial Management, University of Waterloo

Dr. Jennifer Lynes Murray is the Co-Director of SAF's Sustainability and Financial Management (SFM) program and an Associate Professor in the Faculty of Environment. She also serves as Chair of the non-profit organization Residential Energy Efficiency Program (REEP Green Solutions) and is a co-founder of the North American Sustainable Concerts Working Group. With an academic background in both marketing and environmental studies, her expertise lies at the intersection of business and the environment, with a focus on the marketing of sustainability. Her key research interests include social and community-based green marketing, residential energy conservation behavior, and engaging youth in environmental issues.

Cody Buchenauer Headshot

Professor Cody Buchenauer (he/him)
Adjunct Lecturer, School of Accounting and Finance, University of Waterloo

Cody is an Assistant Professor Teaching Stream at the University of Waterloo, teaching at the undergraduate and master’s level in the School of Accounting & Finance. Cody is also a Senior Manager at EY LLP in Waterloo, with 10 years of experience with personal, corporate and estate tax.

Cody graduated from the Accounting and Financial Management and Master of Accounting programs at the University of Waterloo in 2014 and obtained their CPA designation in 2016.

Dr. Tingting Wu (she/her)
Assistant Professor of Sustainability and Financial Management, University of Waterloo

Dr. Tingting Wu is an Assistant Professor of Sustainability and Financial Management (Teaching Stream) at the School of Accounting and Finance. As one of the first faculty members in the BSFM program, she is passionate about integrating sustainability into business education, equipping students with a competitive edge in an evolving field. Her expertise is in sustainable finance, and she holds a Ph.D. in Environmental Economics from McGill University.

Madison M.

Madison M. (she/her)
Sustainability and Financial Management Student, University of Waterloo

Madison is a student in Sustainability and Financial Management, and she has had the privilege of being a tutorial leader for several first-year courses. She is a member of the executive team of our student organization (SFMSO), and she enjoys taking part in a variety of other extracurricular activities like intramurals!

Sustainability and Financial Management Student, University of Waterloo

Michelle is a student in Sustainability and Financial Management. She has completed two CO-OP terms at PwC blending together both the accounting and sustainability aspects of the degree. Outside from professional work experience, she has been the lead tutorial head for the Introduction of Sustainability and Financial Management course, teaching the past two years of new first year students. She additionally is the Chair of the Board of Directors on the SFM Student Organization.

Jaiden V. Headshot

Jaiden V. (she/her)
Sustainability and Financial Management Student, University of Waterloo

Jaiden is a student in the Sustainability and Financial Management program, and President of the SFM Student Organization. She just completed her third work term with Deloitte, working as an analyst wth the Sustainability Risk Advisory team. Jaiden uses her school and work experience to both judge and compete in case competitions, most recently winning the 2024 Accounting for Sustainability International Case Competition.

Sustainability and Financial Management Student, University of Waterloo

Ethan, an Sustainability and Financial Management student, is currently pursuing the financial markets and government policy pathway. He has worked several co-op terms in roles that incorporate sustainability into traditional accounting and investment management.
