Faculty Vacancies on Senate

This serves as a call for nominations to fill upcoming faculty vacancies on Senate, the University’s highest academic governing body. Nominations are sought for the following seats:

Faculty Representatives

  • Faculty members to be elected by/from the members of faculty of each Faculty of the University (six in total: one in each of Arts, Engineering, Environment, Health, Mathematics, and Science) terms May 1 2024 to April 30 2027.

Faculty-at-Large Representatives

  • Seven faculty members to be elected by/from the members of faculty of the University,
    terms May 1 2024 to April 30 2027.

At least five nominators who are members of faculty with regular faculty appointments (see Policy 76 – Faculty Appointments) from the constituency from which the member is to be elected are required for each nomination. To be eligible to accept the nomination, the candidate must hold a regular faculty appointment. A brief candidate statement (100 words maximum) must be submitted with each nomination form to appear with the ballot.

If you are interested, please email the Secretariat at elections@uwaterloo.ca to request the nomination form. The nomination period closes and forms must be received by 4:30 p.m., Thursday February 22 2024.

If required, elections will be held beginning Monday February 26 2024, closing Monday March 4 2024.

*Eligible for re-election. A former senator becomes eligible for re-election following the expiration of one year following the completion of two consecutive terms on Senate (UW Act, Section 23).
