Campus expansion

Now open!

St. Paul's opened a brand-new expansion to our existing campus in September 2017. The exciting new space features a large multipurpose room for all students, an incubation space for St. Paul's GreenHouse, which helps students develop an entrepreneurial skill set and turn their ideas for social impact into ventures), and an expansion of Watson's Eatery.

Our live-in programs (GreenHouse, Social Impact, Environment, Women in Engineering Living-Learning Communities, and Residence) will grow by 70 large single rooms with private bathroom ensuites. Each floor will have a kitchenette and no more than 13 rooms.

What will the expansion mean for students?

As part of this project, East Wing washrooms were also refurbished to become private washrooms with individual cubicles containing a shower, sink, and toilet.
We also renovated West Wing washrooms in summer 2017. That means all washrooms in all residence wings ar new or newly renovated!

Why did we expand?

We have recognized the need for greater space for several years. In 2013, we began consultations with students and stakeholders to better determine our community needs. This expansion is the culmination of those discussions.

Timeline

Tuesday, April 5: Ceremonial groundbreaking

Early May: Contractor began work

Summer 2017: Work is expected to be completed

September 3, 2017: Green Wing Residence opens

October 3, 2017: Blessing for Ceremonial Fire Grounds takes place

October 2017: New courtyard completed

November 16, 2017: Official opening

Access to St. Paul's

Please note that during the expansion, the east side of the St. Paul’s building will no longer be accessible.

To get to the main Student and Guest Services desk from the ring road, take the path that runs between the St. Paul's Grad Apartments and St. Jerome's University. To get to the Lecture Hall entry, use the same path, then go down the stairs to the Lecture Hall entry.

This walkway is not wheelchair accessible. If you need to access St. Paul’s from main campus and require accessible transport, please contact AccessAbility Services (519-888-4567 ext. 35082) to arrange a shuttle to the main front door, which remains open and accessible.
