The University of Waterloo is pleased to present the 2023 Summer School “Water and Energy Security in a Changing Climate”. A Sustainable Futures Initiative, the summer school is hosted by the Water Institute, the Waterloo Climate Institute and the Waterloo Institute for Sustainable Energy (WISE) and will showcase leading-edge research from a wide array of UWaterloo professors at the interface of water, climate, and energy.

Climate change is the pre-eminent global issue of our time, yet many of us still struggle to find the right language, time and place to talk about it. Beyond Crisis is a 1-hour film that models a constructive dialogue on climate change, with over 50 diverse voices spread over 5 chapters.

Energy permeates everything we do. From our purchases to our mobility to our homes and workplaces, it is the foundation of a modern economy. But our relationship to energy is changing, caught between technological development, urgent need for climate action, and concern over economic competitiveness.

Canada is increasingly pressured to respond to climate change and extreme weather events. This discussion will explore current policies and procedures, and panelists will share why we need to bring a new audience into the discussion -- specifically, the capital markets. 

The Interdisciplinary Centre on Climate Change is hosting an evening event to reflect on the outcomes and impacts of the recent international climate change conference in Paris.  What happened in Paris, and why is it important?  What does the agreement reached at the conference mean for Canada and our community?

A marathon of three movies will take place as a way to celebrate Earth Day and raise awareness on the issues relating to climate change. Whether there is a film you've been dying to see or just want a break from exams, join us in EV3 1408 for some fun!
