Join the Sustainability Office for our eighth-annual Eco Summit! While this year looks very different on campus and across our communities, Eco Summit 2021 provides an opportunity to come together as a campus to reflect on our sustainability progress and new opportunities for the year ahead.

The Sustainability Office invites every student in Ontario to the Youth In Action Event: Opportunities in Sustainability!

Students across Ontario are welcome to join a networking and storytelling event that highlight youth action in sustainability and showcase various career and volunteer opportunities to join. Participating Universities and Colleges include the University of Waterloo, University of Guelph and University of Guelph Humber. Featured organizations include: Apathy is Boring, World Wildlife Fund Canada, Youth Challenge International, ReImagine 17, and more!

The science on climate change is clear – urgent action is required to deal with the increasing risks of a warming planet. So, what can we do? On April 27, join Professor Sarah Burch as she speaks with climate scientist Katharine Hayhoe, who The New York Times called “one of the nation's most effective communicators on climate change.” They’ll discuss strategies for scaling up individual and collective climate action, and how to navigate difficult conversations about our changing planet. They’ll also address your most pressing questions and weigh in on what we’re all wondering – is there hope? 

In partnership with Grounds Services, the Sustainability Office invites you to share your feedback on a proposed Sustainable Land Care Standard for the campus. This is one of three in-person open houses where all members of the University community are encouraged to provide their input.

The open houses will display relevant information about the development of the Sustainable Land Care Standard and provide an opportunity for thoughts and comments.

Learn how you can get experience and recognition as a leader in sustainability while completing your post-secondary program! 

Join WWF-Canada for a virtual workshop about the Living Leader Planet certification. Students will have the opportunity to learn more about the certification, its benefits, and hear from a panel of students who have completed the certification and where they are now.
