SDG Impact Challenge

UW’s Impact Alliance and Global Spark are hosting a virtual solutions hackathon called the “SDG Impact Challenge''. This event has partnered with three local organizations who are tackling some of the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals: Waterloo Institute for Sustainable Energy (WISE), the Interdisciplinary Centre on Climate Change (IC3) and Food4Kids.

Sustainability Book Club September Meeting

Are you an avid reader and interested in learning about various sustainability topics? Join our Sustainability Book Club, where we connect once per month over Microsoft Teams to discuss a new book related to sustainability. Having piloted this opportunity with our Green Office Ambassadors, we are now opening the opportunity to all staff, students and Faculty. Our meetings typically run over the lunch hour towards the end of each month. The selected books are available from public libraries, or for purchase from the W Store and other online retailers.

Waste Week 2021: Rethinking Waste

Did you know that waste contributes to climate change? The decomposition of organics, packaging and other garbage in landfills produces a significant amount of methane, which is a greenhouse gas 28 times for potent than carbon dioxide. Additionally, non-organic material and the production of resources is a significant source of emissions which end up as waste.
