Green Volunteer

Would you like to contribute to the campus and work with others who have a desire to accelerate campus sustainability? As a Green Volunteer, you will make a positive impact on the campus through campus-wide events and campaigns, connecting with others across the University’s community, and learning more about sustainability!

The Sustainability Office also has a variety of program opportunities to get involved with sustainability actions on campus, including Green ResidenceGreen Office, and Green Labs.

VolunteerWhy become a Green Volunteer?

  • Green Volunteers promote environmental sustainability and sustainable development in the University community through events, workshops and booths.

  • Green Volunteers come from across campus and work to share their own experiences and understanding while enhancing their own knowledge on campus operations and progress.

  • Green Volunteers will create a positive impact on the University by working with the campus community to enhance engagement and education on sustainability.

Join us now and help the University move faster toward integrating sustainability into our campus culture.

  • Green Volunteers should be a part of the University of Waterloo community (I.e., student, staff, or faculty).

  • Should have an interest in environmental sustainability and be aware of or willing to learn about the Sustainability Office’s commitment to environmental sustainability.

  • Should be professional with strong interpersonal and organizational skills.

How will it work?

  • Green Volunteer opportunities will be offered sporadically throughout the year. Normally, opportunities are tied to events and campaigns (i.e., Earth Month, Waste Week). However, effort will be made to hold a booth once a month to highlight challenges, tools, and resources for the campus community.

  • Volunteer opportunities will be a mix of in-person and virtual opportunities as appropriate.
