The Sustainability Leadership Certificate is a co-curricular certificate offered by the University of Waterloo as a way to recognize and encourage students in their sustainability efforts. The certificate enhances resumes, provides opportunities for professional growth, and strengthens green skills. 

This fall, 14 Green Residence Ambassadors helped make residence life a little greener across both north and south campus. Split between Village 1 (V1) and Claudette Millar Hall (CMH), ambassadors hosted interactive pop-ups focused on waste sorting, reuse, and sustainable living, engaging hundreds of students in hands-on activities right where they live.

The Sustainability Action Fund has granted funding for seven new campus sustainability projects in fall 2025, with a mix of student, staff, and faculty-led projects. From workshops and app-based waste sorting to bird-friendly window decals and invasive species management, innovative ideas are driving campus sustainability forward at Waterloo.

The Sustainability Action Fund has granted funding to eight new projects in winter 2023. Led by staff, faculty, and students, these initiatives will support campus biodiversity and strengthen the integration of sustainability into work and campus life.

The Sustainability Action Fund has granted funding to four new projects in winter 2022. Repair events, a new community garden, and student-led sustainability initiatives will be supported by this round of funding. 

The Sustainability Action Fund has granted funding to three new projects in fall 2021 to support a new living labs project, a salt bringing pilot, and a hackathon centred around the sustainable development goals. 

Warrior Home, a multidisciplinary student team at the University of Waterloo, designs and builds high-performing, net-zero energy, affordable, and sustainable homes for community housing organizations.

The Sustainability Action Fund has granted funding for seven new projects on campus. These fall 2020 projects range from waste reduction initiatives like PPE recycling and WUSA's secondhand store to sustainable cooking in residence and improved campus fleet efficiency. 

The Sustainability Action Fund has granted funding for two new projects on campus in spring 2019. Led by a variety of departments at UW, these projects will help reduce waste and energy consumption throughout the campus. The funding will also support Waterloo as host of the Conference on Sustainability in Engineering.
