The Sustainability Action Fund (SAF) supports projects and initiatives that improve sustainability at the University of Waterloo. Project funds are distributed based on a call for applications, with successful applications determined by the President’s Advisory Committee on Environmental Sustainability (PACES).

The President’s Advisory Committee on Environmental Sustainability (PACES) are calling for applicants who are interested in advancing campus sustainability. The commitee will represent a cross-section of Waterloo stakeholders, including students, faculty, staff, and administration, to provide advice to the president on campus sustainability programs and policies.

On Earth Day 2022, Waterloo is excited to release its first report to reflect on some of the work being done across the University to advance the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). These 17 goals are a global framework agreed to by all countries, intended to guide nations and institutions in building a better future for all.

Does your department have a campus vehicle in need of replacement? Have you considered exploring an electric option?

Waterloo is launching a new incentive for departments to electrify fleet vehicles. Any unit replacing a conventional combustion engine vehicle can receive a $10,000 internal incentive to convert to an electric vehicle (EV).

The Sustainability Office is offering an updated version of the Sustainability Certificate with virtual classes to both staff and faculty. Those interested in taking the course and participating in discussions can sign up through Workday. Topics covered within the Sustainability Certificate will discuss Climate Change, Biodiversity, Sustainable Consumption and Sustainable Travel.

New bike cage is a corral for your cycles

As we return to campus, riding your bike just got a little better. Waterloo’s new bike cage has opened and students, staff, and faculty may now purchase spaces.
