What is a Non Degree Term?
There are many reasons students choose to take Non Degree Terms:
In order to take a Non Degree Term you must complete a Plan Modification form. If you are taking a work term off, you must also complete a Sequence Change Form.
No Coop Placement
If you wish to take a full term of courses instead of a work term, you would first need to discuss with CECS that you will be missing a work term and make sure that it is ok. You should complete the Request for Academic/Work Term Sequence Change form.
Required to Repeat Term
If you are required to repeat your previous term and wish to keep in academic mode, you will need permission from your Undergrad Advisor to do this. Note that you cannot take core courses, you cannot reduce future term loads because of taking courses non degree, and you can take prerequisites or courses for interest sake.
Transferring out of SYDE?
First, contact the Faculty Advisor of the Department where you wish to transfer. He/she will inform you of the steps for transfer. Courses taken for the purpose of transfer should be coded NRNA.
- to provide at least one extra term of study to complete courses towards options, minors, or to take courses they are interested in - this could be in lieu of one of their work terms
- to take a study term during a term off after a negative Academic Decision (Repeat Term)
- to clear failures down to at least one after a decision of May Not Proceed
- to take a term in order to transfer to another department
